According to locals, In the mid 1800’s Lord Elgin, then Canada’s Governor General decided to build a house here. It was regal, stately, and elegant. Lord Elgin was touring the lakes and rivers of the region when he fell in love with Mount Elgin. Not surprisingly, the residence quickly became known as “Elgin Hall” and is considered by many to be “an historical treasure.”
